I had to talk my husband out of buying cheaper oars. He didn't want to spend a lot of money. But these oars were definitely worth it. They are both beautiful and functional. We needed to replace oars that had belonged to my husband's grandfather for a canoeing trip to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota, where we would be spending 8 hours in the canoe every day for a week. The oars were well crafted, lightweight, very comfortable, perfect size. I'm sure these oars will be handed down to the next generation or two.
